Picking Up Sand

Stay in your car, drive up to a sand pile, and use Pickup to hitch it behind your taxi. For the beach pickup, look for the SAND marker toward the coast. Don't get out to grab it on foot: you collect sand with your vehicle, then tow it away.

How Do You Pick Up a Sand Pile in Taxi Boss?

You pick up a sand pile from inside your car by using the Pickup interaction beside the pile. Think of this as hitching a load to your taxi rather than collecting a loose item on foot. The result you want is a sand trailer attached behind the vehicle.

Stay in the car

Keep your character inside the vehicle as you approach the sand. Getting out to walk over to the pile misses the requirement for this pickup, even if that feels like the natural way to collect a quest item.

Drive up to the sand pile

Bring the taxi close to the pile and look for the interaction labeled Sand and Pickup. Keep your attention on that prompt before choosing a key. Being near the sand on foot is not a substitute for bringing the car over.

Use Pickup and check behind the taxi

Use the interaction shown on your screen to attach the sand. Once the loaded trailer is hitched behind your taxi, you can drive away with it in tow. That attached load is the useful sign that you have moved from finding sand to hauling it.

Do You Press R or Hold E to Pick Up Sand?

Follow the key beside your on-screen Pickup prompt: the September 6, 2023 interaction displayed R, while the January 5, 2026 instructions used holding E. These are different instructions for the same pickup action, so choosing a key from memory can send you in circles.

If your prompt shows R, use R. If it shows E, follow that prompt; the E method calls for holding the key rather than just tapping it. Check the label while you are in the car beside the sand so you are responding to the interaction you actually need.

Stay in the taxi while checking the control. Changing keys does not solve the pickup requirement if you have already stepped out of the vehicle.

Where Do You Find the Sand Piles?

For the beach pickup, head toward the coast and look for the SAND waypoint. The sand pile sits on the beach, where you bring the taxi alongside it to reach the Pickup interaction.

Use the marker to find the destination, then use the nearby Sand and Pickup labels to handle the collection itself. Those labels serve different purposes: SAND points you toward the sand, while Pickup is the action that hitches the load. Reaching the beach is the approach; attaching the trailer is the pickup.

Keep the car involved all the way to the pile. Parking nearby and continuing on foot leaves you without the vehicle you need for the interaction.

Why Won't the Sand Pile Let You Pick It Up?

Check that you are inside the car first, then check the Pickup prompt beside the pile. If you walked over to the sand, return to your vehicle and bring it up to the load. A player asking why sand would not let them collect it was given that same practical fix: be in the car.

Work through the action in order: vehicle, pile, prompt, attached trailer. This keeps the position requirement separate from the key choice. If you have reached the pile but are trying a remembered key, read the prompt; if you are standing outside, get back in before trying again.

Once the trailer is attached, you have sand ready to haul wherever your task needs it. For another item collection next, go to Taxi Boss wood planks, how to get a glass pane in Taxi Boss, or how to get a concrete bag in Taxi Boss, depending on the material you need.
